How to run a construction punch list

Walk the work that is still open. Write each item where you see it. Give it an owner and a date. Pin it on the drawing if the drawing is how you will find it again. Close with a PDF the owner can read.

Walk and write it down there

A punch item written at the desk is a memory. Write what is unfinished, damaged, or missing while you are standing at it, and attach a photo to that line.

Give every line an owner and a date

An item with no owner is a note. Name the trade or the person, and a date you will check it again. That is the list you can walk tomorrow.

Pin it when the drawing is the map

On a multi-room job, the floorplan pin is faster than a room name in a spreadsheet. Site Auditor keeps the pin on the same item as the photo.

Close with one PDF

Build the branded PDF from the same list, with room for a signature on site. If you only need the file today, use the free punch PDF tool. The longer punch list guide is linked above.
